Regulatory Standards & CO2 Testing Requirements
Because carbon dioxide is stored under extreme pressure, receiving a CO2 cylinder refill requires strict adherence to Department of Transportation (DOT) and NFPA regulations to guarantee workplace safety:
5-Year Hydrostatic Testing
DOT regulations mandate that CO₂ cylinders undergo high-pressure liquid testing every 5 years prior to receiving a CO₂ cylinder refill.
Gross & Tare Weight Verification
Unlike dry chemical units, CO₂ levels cannot be checked via pressure gauge alone — every CO₂ cylinder refill must be precisely weighed to ensure proper charge weight.
Visual & Structural Inspection
Annual hands-on physical inspection of cylinder walls, valve threads, and locking mechanisms to detect corrosion or mechanical damage.
Annual Tagging & Certification
Full documentation and state fire marshal tagging provided upon completion of your inspection and CO₂ cylinder refill.
